F. Wayne Tunison

Wayne has been a bell ringer for more than four decades.   He is the father of four children.  As a patriotic promoter of the Regina Arts scene, he enjoys discovering the creative gems, which this prairie city often produces.

Wayne is a multidisciplinary artist interested in combining various media for exotic communication effects.  Wayne enjoys drawing, painting and computer graphics.  Wayne has produced more than 100 videos in the last 20 years.  As an engineer, Wayne researches techniques for articulating technical speculation, in other words, “How can we share our science fiction dreams with others?”  “How can we turn dreams into reality?”

Wayne encourages the multicultural aspects of the Regina Bell Ringers along with the local composers.

Carol Benesh (Kee-lo)

One of the more senior apprentices, Carol has been ringing the Darke Memorial Chimes (12 English bells) since 1996.  The tower bells are her first musical instrument.  Carol enjoys the more ‘volunteer’ aspects of belonging to the Regina Bell Ringers, like tours and mentoring the new apprentices.  There are also the tasks of cataloguing the tower music and art, creating and formatting the concert programs & advertisements.  Carol has reordered the accounting with the help of Knox Metropolitan professionals.  Carol discovered early in life her forte of data processing.  Show her a document, file, spreadsheet, database, program, picture, electronic data of any kind, tell her what you want, it becomes information, then knowledge.  It is done.  Time flies for her when she is on the computer as her family can well attest.

Carol has two lovely daughters, Jade and Azure, who are also involved in bellringing and are currently seeking the things in life that they love most (definitely not computer work J).

Anna Tunison

This year Anna is no longer the youngest bell ringer in the tower to-date.  Anna started when she was 6 years old and is now 10 soon to be 11.  One of the challenges of starting so young is that she has twice the beginner apprentice exercises since she could not physically reach the other side of the ring of twelve ropes.  This extra work when she was smaller leads to some amazing technique.  In September 2007, Anna finished the first level of apprenticeship, started her intermediate apprenticeship and is mentoring the younger apprentices. One of Anna’s favourite pieces to play is Kazjedia. We call it the ‘flying squirrel’ song because she literally has to fly from one end of the ring of ropes to the other.  Anna selected the repertoire of this concert to reflect the two main influences on her artistic growth:  the church, the country (neighbourhood).  She has blended the traditional favourite hymns with the songs of her friends and family.

Anna studies piano with Sandra Cosbey and trumpet with Mark Preece.  Anna is an Atom water polo player coached by Cyril Dorgigné, Tomson Hutchinson and Sam New.  Anna is the provincial gold medal winner in free style for summer swimmers and coached by Jennifer Robinson and Neysa Schneider. Anna is in grade 6 at Ecole Monseiguener de Laval.  Anna is also in grade 4 at the Chinese Alliance school learning Cantonese.
