Carol Chernishenko

Carol was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She attended Campbell Collegiate in Regina. She started music lessons at age 5 and continued with music throughout her years in school. Carol attended the University of Regina and obtained a Bachelor of Science, with Distinction, in Computer Science.

Carol first heard the handbells at the urging of a good friend and member of the Regina Bell Ringers in 1981. The music was wonderful but the timing wasn't right so Carol did not join the handbell choir until two years later. Carol learned the art of handbell ringing from Sandra Cosbey starting as a beginner with just one bell to an accomplished choir member and solo ringer.

During this time, Carol served on the Regina Bell Ringers executive as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President and President. Carol was part of the initiative to organize the Saskatchewan Guild of English Handbell Ringers, an organization which promotes bell ringing in the province and is associated with the international Guilds from the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Korea and Japan.

Carol is working at ISM as a Business Analyst.

The upcoming handbell season is always exciting.

In 1996, Carol was a part of a provincial choir attending the 8th International Handbell Symposium which was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The event hosted nearly 600 ringers from around the world.
