F. Wayne Tunison

Wayne has been a bell ringer for more than four decades.   He is the father of four children.  As a patriotic promoter of the Regina Arts scene, he enjoys discovering the creative gems, which this prairie city often produces.

Wayne is a multidisciplinary artist interested in combining various media for exotic communication effects.  Wayne enjoys drawing, painting, writing and music.  Wayne has produced more than 100 videos in the last 20 years.  As an engineer, Wayne researches techniques for articulating technical speculation, in other words, “How can we share our science fiction dreams with others?”  “How can we turn dreams into reality?”

Wayne encourages the multicultural aspects of the Regina Bell Ringers along with the local composers.  Wayne is a freemason, dynamic speaker and volunteer with water polo.

PITA

PITA is one of the oldest apprentice (chronologically) in the bell tower.  She comes to the Regina Bell Ringers with a strong vocal background both choral and solo.

PITA was born in Winnipeg and has lived in Saskatchewan since 1974 (originally Saskatoon, Regina since 1995), with a brief interlude in Ontario. She has five children and five grandchildren, all of whom are music-lovers and musicians. Bell-ringing is one of her latest attempts to try as many musical instruments as possible while still able-bodied and of sound mind (some already question the latter)!

Carol Benesh (Keelo)

One of the more senior apprentices, Carol has been ringing the Darke Memorial Chimes (12 English bells) since 1996.  The tower bells are her first musical instrument (besides her voice). In 2013, the Regina Bell Ringers started a Handbell Choir at the Knox-Metropolitan Church under the direction of Sandra Cosbey.  The handbells will be Carol’s second musical instrument.  Carol has two lovely daughters, Jade [Jose Luis] and Azure, who were/are also involved in bellringing and one granddaughter Isis.

 Mercedees Lenger (Sadie Bug)

Mercedees began her apprenticeship on the bells on Sunday May 9, 2010 - Mother’s Day, also her seventh birthday and her Dad and new Mom’s anniversary.  She dedicates her music to her Mommy Jody in heaven.   She has been attending Knox Metropolitan United church with Grandma Bev since age three and began visiting the bell tower when she was four.  She attends George Lee School.

Jill Laycock

Jill grew up in Nipawin, SK and dreamt of joining a handbell choir throughout her teen years. She moved to Regina in 1996, but wasn’t aware any bell ringing opportunities until last spring.

Jill works for Wascana Centre Authority at Wascana Place, home of the Wascana Chimes which are played during the summer months and for other special occasions – such as Wascana Centre’s 50th Anniversary on April 1, 2012. It was here that Jill was introduced to bell ringing. She tried it and was hooked, showing up at Knox Met the following weekend to observe and start the beginner apprentice program.

Jill has been ringing the bells regularly for the last year and a half. She has almost completed the beginner apprentice program, and this is her first concert.

Carol Benesh

Assisting Jill with her first concert is senior apprentice Carol Benesh.
