Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth's Ascension to the Throne

1. Psalm of Approach # 2 ................ F. Wayne Tunison (b. 1953)

Good for improvization. Our tower's tradition states that Psalms can be repeated tot he performer's discretion.

2. Rex Gloria .......................... Henry Thomas Smart (1813-1870)

Praise the Lord, Ye Heavens , Adore Him is based on Psalm 148 by an unknown poet and was sung at the Baptism of Princess Elizabeth of York.

3. Lauda Anima .......................... John Goss (1800-1880)

This hymn was sung at Princess Elizabeth's Wedding using the words, Praise My Soul, the King of Heaven, penned by Henry Francis Lyte (1793-1847).

The United Church of Canada chose to alter the words in their 1996 hymn book Voices United.

4. Crimond .............................. Scottish Psalter (1650)

Jessie Seymour Irvine's (1836-1887) adaptation of the 23rd Psalm was also sung at Princess Elizabeth's Wedding.

5. Elizabeth ........................... Larry Peterson (b. 1952)

Although the revolutionary populist, Larry Peterson, could never be considered a monarchist, he still honoured Queen Elizabeth with a name sake song. Consider how with a name sake song. Consider how many commonwealth females born after 1953 were given the name Elizabeth and chose to make this a better world even for Larry.

6. Veni Creator ......................... Plainsong Melody, Mechlin

At the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, Come Holy Ghost, Our Souls Inspire, a 9th Century Latin hymn translated by John Cosin (1594-1672) was sung.

7. Old 100th ........................... Geneva Psalter (1551)

At the Queen's Silver Jubilee, All People That On Earth Do Dwell by Théodore de Bèze (1519-1605) was sung.

8. Eleven Fold Amen .................... F. Wayne Tunison (b. 1953)

Royalty and the bells relate on the number 10 but our tower had no Amen or other suitable ending based on the number 10. Therefore, eleven was selected as the next closest. This will be remedied for the next jubilee.
